ok. craaaaaaaAAAaazy idea time! well, not really, but it sounds more fun that 
way. ;)

how would you feel about hosting these scripts inside of synchrotron in the 
synchrotron-sources repository? then for the 4.9 release we work on making a 
really nice way of using these scripts, complete with transparent downloading 
and updating of them? (which is the whole point of synchrotron)

we can have:

* panel additions
* full desktop make-over templates
* handy utilities like panel removal

the desktop scripting is really powerful, and i feel you've proven that there 
is a really compelling use case for using it more pervasively in Plasma 
Desktop as a way to help people achieve the look and feel they want without 
having to painstakingly hand-craft it every time they install ...

what do you think?
