systemtray and dbus protocol

Hello Plasma dev,
I took the liberty to make a dataengine/service from the code written by Marco 
Martin in the applet. I plan also to test a port of the trunk applet to using 
the dataengine.

What do you think about this work ? Should I continue on this way ?
If you want to see what I did, I can make a review request tomorrow evening. 
At least I would like to have the ported protocol before showing anything.

I am not really experienced with contributing to opensource projects, so 
excuse me if I make mistakes, but do not hesitate to give me the needed 
advice.
I hope, I am not walking on anybody toes.
