ah, you meant when a "save?" window is already being shown. well, yes, that's 
a rather entirely different sort of problem. the root, of course, is the issue 
you brought out earlier:

"Identifying them is a hack itself: we just assume 
it's any new window that appears during logout."

being able to identify them is one problem.
deciding what to do with them once identified is another one (and imho has a 
clear answer).

identification of such windows is going to require better metadata on those 
windows. we may as well tackle this at the same time that we tackle marking 
windows as document bearers.
