I think the interesting point of the fact that Apple allows label is not 
some holy "if Apple does it, then we should do it". What's interesting 
IMHO is that it has been around for a while, and so far I haven't 
witnessed too much abuse of this label property by third-party Mac OS X 
developers. I won't pretend to have tried every Mac application out 
there, of course, but at least the few I have seen extending the menubar 
this way did it in a reasonable way.
