when i was testing the other week, i discovered that the background of the 
view was getting repainted ... constantly. and that's a non-trivial paint 
operation as it's full screen and beneath a bunch of pixmaps (in the best 
case) in plasma-desktop.

i talked to Alexis about this, he said he probably knew how to fix it in Qt. 
we'll see :)
