most likely not. many widgets require configuration (so we'd need a dummy 
configuration for them), and then there's the issue of "what do we do when the 
user starts interacting with it?" (e.g. dragging extenders out, etc)

it seems much more sensible to just show a preview. we can make it look like a 
preview, though, by e.g. framing it as a picture.
