panel sizing of applets

looks like the battery sets its own maximum size bt from the code it
doesn't seem, weeeird
since the panel is a linear layout we can't do much to avoid this
problem besides avoiding to set maximum sizes in applets when possible
and for sure never a maximum height in an horizontal panel.
in some hours will get back home so i'll can do some experiments on
the pc where i have the checkout
i'm quite puzzled because in the code seems to be nothing wrong...
