I noticed that you were trying to build a development VM, and I think you
might(?) have been trying to write a Python Plasmoid. If that's the case,
and you're willing to try again, you might want to try out my project,
KDE4Daily:
http://dot.kde.org/1228930911/
Setting up a C++ environment inside it might be slightly tricky (or it could
equally just be a case of downloading a few packages: I've not really tried),
but it *should* be Python-Plasmoid-Capable from the outset, although I have
not tested this at all thoroughly.
This reminds me: I've been vaguely toying with the idea of releasing the
chroot used for building KDE4Daily (named, appropriately enough,
Khrooty4Daily) which should enable you to compile damn near anything from
KDE's svn straight from the get-go. I don't really know much about the
security etc implications of providing a chroot, though. Maybe I'll blog and
gather experiences/ feedback when I get back home to my dev machine ...
Best Wishes,
Simon
