Summary: Proposed translation mode for verb conjugation...
           Product: parley
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: parley-devel at kde.org
        ReportedBy: rainmusictea at gmail.com

Version: 0.9.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

When currently studying verb conjugation, the infinitive and tense are both
given in the foreign language. Though this is helpful, it focuses more on
having the user associate the conjugations with the foreign language's tense
rather than translating. I believe that users would benefit from having an
option of a "Translation mode" wherein they are given the verb and tense, as
well as the verb conjugations in their own language and then have to translate
them into the foreign language and vice-versa. That way, they can associate the
foreign word with the native meaning rather than the foreign word with the
foreign tense. I believe having the grounding of associating it with the native
meaning may help to improve comprehension. This native word >to> foreign word
(and vice-versa) style is what is currently used for words that are not verb
conjugations (adjectives, nouns, etc.).

Just as an illustration, the current setup is like this:
------------------------------------
Avoir - présent de l'indicatif

je __________ nous ____________
tu __________ vous ____________
il/elle _____ ils/elles _______
------------------------------------

The desired additional configuration:
----------------------------------------------------
Translate to French:
----------------------------------------------------
Avoir - présent de l'indicatif
(to have - present indicative)

I have ______________ we have _________________
you have ____________ you have (pl) ___________
he/she has __________ they have _______________
----------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------
Translate to English:
----------------------------------------------------
Avoir - présent de l'indicatif
(to have - present indicative)

j'ai ______________ nous avons ________________
tu as _____________ vous avez ________________
il/elle a _________ ils/elles ont _____________
----------------------------------------------------

My compliments on Parley to all the developers. With or without this change, I
believe it is a very helpful and worthwhile application for students and thank
you for making it available. :)
