Severe Plasma visual corruption

Hi all!

I was hoping to get KDE4Daily 4.1 up and running, but I've run into a snag
that makes it unreleasable. This isn't so much a bug report as it is a
request for help :)

Basically, Plasma in KDE4Daily currently looks like this:

This is a self-compiled KDE4 install (rev 810613) using qt-copy. KDE4Daily is
based on Kubuntu 8.04 and runs in Qemu. As you can see from the screenshot,
KRunner is also corrupted, but other KDE4 apps I've tried (and,
interestingly, the "Colliding Mice" GraphicsView example) seem to look
absolutely fine.

Here's a log of Plasma startup:

The same install on my desktop machine (the Qemu image is almost identical to
this) works fine.

I wiped my KDE4 install and grabbed the kde4-core packages provided by
Kubuntu, and it was corrupt (in Qemu) in exactly the same way.

I'm at a loss, really, and long shot though it is, I'm hoping someone can look
into their crystal ball and guess what the cause is :/ WindowsUninstall
suggested a mismatch of colour depth on IRC, which sounds right, but I've no
idea how to fix it.

Many thanks,
Simon
