Same here on nvidia, with or without desktop effects enabled. While keeping xrestop running, every windows focus switch seems to cost about 4-6 KB. I have focus-follows-mouse enabled, so I literally just need to move the mouse from one window to another to see plasma eat memory.

Not reproducible on ATI.
