I can confirm this bug, or a variation of it;

Description:
The desktop will load normally, but clicking the Application Launcher in the panel will instantly crash Plasma. The desktop returns after a second, but clicking the launcher again will cause the SIGSEGV, and the desktop will become gray and unresponsive.

Steps Taken:
1. Added an Application Launcher to the desktop and attempted to use that. Plasma crashed as with the launcher in the panel. 

2. Added a new user with all default settings. The new user's desktop crashed in an identical manner.

3. Backed up the plasmarc and plasma-appletsrc files as recommended by Anne-Marie Mahfouf above. No improvement.

4. Backed up the whole ~/.kde folder. No improvement.
