I get a similar crash on logging into KDE on Ubuntu Gutsy (with the Hardy 4.02 packages installed). At startup Plasma crashes and then the rest of the interface fails to load (presumably because there is no "backup" to Plasma?). I can still launch programs, however (I'm writing this on Konqueror, everything else looks OK too).
