Themes and Panels

Well, since themes are in the spotlight at the moment, just wanted to ask 
about your opinion about the fact that that horizontal and vertical panels use 
the same SVG.

I find this too restricting because it is very difficult to make something 
more than a simple, almost uni-colour backgrounds. It would be much easier if 
all panel locations had different SVGs...

Any thoughts?
