Apropos patches I started this at the weekend to clean up the contents of the 
leave model, but won't have time to work on it for a few days, so if anyone 
wants to run with it that would be cool.

It basically reinstates the logic from kde 3 kickoff that inserts leave menu 
entries depending on the user's session management settings, kiosk settings, 
and what the display manager can do on behalf of the user.

It needs more work on 

*updating the contents of the model at runtime if the session management 
settings change,
* updating the switch session submenu to show concurrent X or console sessions 
or start new sessions
* creating the 'start other operating system' submenu.  I don't know if this 
needs to be done at runtime, it depends on whether the display manager 
updates this list.

All this "other stuff" besides Lock/Logout/Shutdown, like manual save session, 
switch session, reboot to other OS needs to be considered if planning an 
alternate way to access the computer's "Leave Desktop" functions.
