Apropos patches I started this at the weekend to clean up the contents of the
leave model, but won't have time to work on it for a few days, so if anyone
wants to run with it that would be cool.
It basically reinstates the logic from kde 3 kickoff that inserts leave menu
entries depending on the user's session management settings, kiosk settings,
and what the display manager can do on behalf of the user.
It needs more work on
*updating the contents of the model at runtime if the session management
settings change,
* updating the switch session submenu to show concurrent X or console sessions
or start new sessions
* creating the 'start other operating system' submenu. I don't know if this
needs to be done at runtime, it depends on whether the display manager
updates this list.
All this "other stuff" besides Lock/Logout/Shutdown, like manual save session,
switch session, reboot to other OS needs to be considered if planning an
alternate way to access the computer's "Leave Desktop" functions.
