When this crash happened, I had all the plasma stuff updated to 4.0.84 but I was missing the package kdeplasmoïd. I solved this problem by desinstalling all the plasma applet.
Installation of kdeplasmoïd 4.0.84 (and all dependencies) is definitely solving this problem. 
I apologise for this false bug report.
