I tested it some more -- this is not a duplicate.

More issues on this one -- it takes only 1 app to resize the taskbar. What's more -- that one entry causes that taskbar not only is resized but overlapping what is next to it on the left. When you quit that app (and entry from panel disappears) the content of the item on the left is not refreshed.

In my case (see ss) is a pager, so before I launch any app I can see

33 44

desktops (11 is just to show the width), after launch it is
11 2
33 4

and after quit it is still
11 2
33 4
