applet.cpp:1097 is a call to Applet:formFactor(), but as you can see it's ending up in Comic::paintInterface instead. so this is most certainly a binary incompat issue: you need to rebuild the comic applet.

also note that extragear/plasma no longer exists, it's kdeplasmoids (soon to be kdeplasma)
