I have the same problem here.
I tried to disable desktop effects and switch from OpenGL to XRender and the problem continues on every try.

My Video Card: nVidia GeForce GO 6150
nVidia driver: 173.14.05
Linux Distribution: Gentoo 2007.2
KDE version: SVN
