Summary: Grouping of plasmoids on a panel
Product: plasma
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

AssignedTo: panel-devel kde org

Version: (using KDE 4.0.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
I am thinking about the Vista Sidebar kind of look and functionality. Look at the folder view plasmoid as an example for the looks. Free floatable on any desktop. One should be albe to have mutiple of them. Inside, one can contain several plasmoids who are then grouped. When moving the panel, the plasmoids contained within move along with it (duh!). Like the (plans for the) folder view plasmoids, these panels themselves can be docked and collapse inside an icon with a nice animation. The icons can also be moved. The plasmoids inside the panel can be arranged within the panel. Plasmoids can be dragged inside and outside the panel. Ideally these panels can contain themselves. That way, subgrouping can be visualized. Every panel should be able to display a title (font, color, etc configurable). Panels should not be allowed to overlap plasmoids on a parent panel. I would like to provide a mockup, but I´m terrible at such a thing. I hope you get the picture. If not, bug me.
