Summary: Slow nx sessions, corrupt window frames
           Product: plasma
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: desktop
        AssignedTo: panel-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: mesamoo115 comcast net

Version: kde4.1 rc1 (and older) (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

Running openSuSE10.3 x86-64 rpm's and nomachine free (not gpl) nxserver/client.

When I log into kde4.1 rc1 from a remote machine using the nxclient, kde4.1 rc1 reacts slowly to actions such as moving and resizing windows (and plasmoids). Not un-usably slow but quite noticable and clunky. The same nxclient settings with kde3.5 or other wm's show very little or no lag.

Also most window frame decorations show alot of corruption in the title bar (and upper half of frame).
It's like they are trying to provide transparency but don't know what to do with nomachines xforwarding (since nx doesn't do 3d/compositing/gl). BTW other places in kde4.1 prefs (advanced effects) are quite aware that compositing is not available and properly refuse to allow incorrect settings.

One other thing, the "web" style window decorations seem to be less affected than decorations such as oxygen and ozone.

I haven't tried other kinds of x forwarding but that might provide more clues.

Let me know if I can provide more information.
