the problem is probably that the contrast border has too much contrast.
perhaps one of the artists could comment on it; it may make sense to do more
than a single pixel and make it a nice blend, even. again, visual design is
not my area of expertise, but i know that a single hi-contrast stroke is not
the only possibility here =)
