I think this is an animation issue - if the "expand" animation is interrupted (by ceasing to hover on the toolbox while it is still opening), the toolbox seems to immediately jump to fully open before starting the contract.

Oddly, this only happens with the quarter-circle expansion, and not with the buttons - ie: the quarter circle jumps to fully expanded, but the buttons don't jump to their "open" position.
