AppletHandle does indeed call Applet::showConfigurationInterface, but *not* in AppletHandle::paint, as the backtrace is showing in frames 7 and 8. this actually looks like a binary incompatibility issue as BC is open in 4.1 and there was just such a commit yesterday.

please rebuild workspace/ and any applets you have from extragear.

do you remember which applet it was that you dragged?
