if it's not toooo much trouble, could you switch to the open source driver and see if the same problem persists? or upgrade to the newest nvidia binary driver here:

which has a bunch of argb fixes and see if that helps any? if not, i'll have to try and muddle through this as best i can without being able to reproduce and no real leads as to what the problem would be; i'll still do my best though ;)

oh, and the reason that i think it may be driver related is that the argb issues are tiling related which may be why it happens at certain sizes (which probably equal the tile size)
