Summary: taskbar in vertical panel looks awfull
Product: plasma
Version: unspecified
Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: widget-taskbar
AssignedTo: panel-devel kde org
ReportedBy: shift cmpd2 phys msu su
Version: (using KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
When Taskbar goes vertical instead of horizontal, it should
1) keep a stardard toolbar-icon-size height of items,
2) should not start 2nd column of items when there are many of them. (IMHO scrolling is a better idea in this case, which on my desktop occurs only when i open >50 windows, which happes very seldom)
right now (v.4.0.1), when taskbar is in a vertical panel (for example, the one attached to the right, and having about 200pixels wide), first items become like very large squares about >200pixels high! after ~20th-30th window open, it starts a second column. (probably it correlates with bug #155974) -- in case of vertical and wide taskbar, i think, its not right. I think a user with-lots-of-windows-open would preffer to have a window titles rather large window icons visible.
PS: the previous behavior in KDE3 was perfect, when i attached Extended Taskbar to the upper-right corner, and had it 200 pixels wide, i had simple item's list, very handy to navigate with mousewheel!
