here's a new version of hover_selection.diff that also elevates the active 
icon. it's a neat effect imho. would be great to make it animate each tab on 
hover (so there's a flowing effect), though that would be a lot trickier to 
pull off nicely (e.g. minimal repaints, etc) .. if we agree that we want 
these effects in svn, i'll give it a go, though...
