yep, that's why i did ask people to try applying the patch. i almost didn't 
provide screenshots.

you'll notice when you use the patch that when you mouse over the items that 
the corresponding usage bar "lights up". (icons are similar on the tab, btw)

having the selection rect behind the usage bar results in eye bleeding colour 
clashes. i understand about usability issues, i also understand that you 
don't wear plaid with paisely. ;)

furthermore, having the bar full width on most of the items results in a huge 
amount of negative space being highlighted. with the highlight focussed on 
the text area, the eye is drawn to that making it far easy to spot and follow 
the meaningful information displayed (the text).
