came across a couple of bugs:

- dropping an object creates a new extender container even when the mouse is 
over an existing one. as long as the mouse is in the extender container on 
drop, the dragged item should be added to that extender

- in case of drop not working (e.g. being cancelled or due to the above bug), 
the "shadow" item that gets shown isn't removed and the extender doesn't 
resize itself back down
