Change the timezone login in updateSource() to match sourceRequested()

.xsession-errors will contain everything output by plasma.  There's also the
following lines, which should appear (but, from what you've already posted, may
not):

kded(10312)/ktimezoned KTimeZoned::checkTimezone: checkTimezone()
kded(10312)/ktimezoned KTimeZoned::findLocalZone: /etc/localtime: 
"Australia/Sydney"

The line
plasma(12004)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*) KSystemTimeZonesPrivate::readConfig:
readConfig(): local zone= "/etc/localtime"
suggests something odd with your local set up.	Can you look for
KTimeZoned::findLocalZone in your .xsession-errors?
