yes, we will need to go through all the providers and figure which are ok and 
which (currently) aren't.

an interested party could then start approaching those like user friendly and 
finding some common ground. wouldn't it be neat if there was an agreed upon 
mechanism for this? e.g. showing a site-provided ad for every 3rd strip and a 
way for the user to quickly jump to the main site (e.g. by clicking on a 
prominent icon) or whatever? 

an agreed upon webservice in the comic community would make things so many 
things easier here.
