expandingDirections() and contentSizeHint() provide the tools to set this up 
(for the applets I'm working on, didn't read trashcan or icon sources yet).

The devicenotifier has some kind of tooltip for popping up a list with 
connected devices. It would be cool if we had this kind of thing in plasma. 
Some container we can show QWidgets with would be great. I've got a calendar 
on clicking the digital clock on my harddisk now, and it's of course 
a 'normal window', which doesn't even show up near my applet. Having the 
devivcenotifiers popup thingie available as some generic thing would make 
some things easier...
