That is great news! :)
I here the ownCloud News resource for KDE's akregator is also nearing 
completion.

I think this is a great idea. Whether it should be standalone or integrated in 
the current app, should probably be discussed with Bartek.

Since Android is currently deployed the most, I'd go for this. If you go 
standalone, it might also make sense to take an existing free news app and try 
to see if it is possible to give it an owncloud backend.
