[Owncloud] Whats with the second versions directory?

Hi Devs,

so in 4.5 there is this new "files_versions" directory, where versions
of new files a saved in.

But what's with the old "versions" directory? Why didn't the upgrade
process simply rename it?

Now I have two directories... is it safe to just rename it for alle my
current users?
