[Owncloud] Group backend question

I see. We have many workgroups at university that use samba shares for 
collaboration. A share can be accessed by the members of a posixgroup. 
And the admin of the workgroup can manage his posixgroup. I thought of 
owncloud as an alternative to the samba shares.
