[Owncloud] tables are not created

I wanted to test my branch with a clean setup, so I deleted config.php and 
dropped the database.
When running the setup again the database is created but not the tables. 
Thinking that I screwed up something locally I did a fresh clone of master but 
got the same result.
I end up with:

[Error message: Table 'oc.users' doesn't exist] [Native code: 1146] [Native 
message: Table 'oc.users' doesn't exist] MDB2 Error: connect failed: 
_doConnect: [Error message: Table 'oc.users' doesn't exist] [Native code: 
1146] [Native message: Table 'oc.users' doesn't exist] 

Any idea what causes this? My previous installs went just fine.

I was just about to make my first merge request and now I'm kinda halted...

MySQL

    Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
    Server version: 5.1.58-1ubuntu1

    MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

Web server

    Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu)
