[Owncloud] release tarballs VS git tags

Hello!

First of all, thanks for great software and here is a question from fresh 
owncloud's user and advanced git's user: where is the tags, guys ? ;-)

There are are several release tarballs at http://owncloud.org/releases/
but there is not any corresponded tag on 
https://gitorious.org/owncloud/owncloud or https://gitorious.org/+owncloud-
reviewers/owncloud/owncloud2

It doubts me a lot since I was able to setup a fresh owncloud2 from tarball  
but not from git repo.

Is it possible to publish release tags?
