Bug ID: 504152
Summary: [Wishlist] Allow for PDF size+ management.
Classification: Applications
Product: okular
Version: unspecified
Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: PDF backend
Assignee: okular-devel at kde.org
Reporter: lyrixcaz at gmx.com
Target Milestone: ---
My need to shrink pdf sizes has arised once more, I scanned about 52 pages of
documents and while i know I could use smaller dpi on my printer's setting, at
the time I was unable to do so; that and the fact that It just didn't cross my
mind, specially when wanting to make good clear/readable scans. The pages
amounted to about 43mb and I was searching for something to help me get it down
to less than 25mb in Okular but i did not find such a setting, not on the
'export as' nor on 'save as'
I searched online and found a neat command that helped me tremendously and I
thought that the requirements for it looked somewhat simple (requiring just
ghostscript) The command was:
gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dPDFSETTINGS=/screen -dNOPAUSE
-dQUIET -dBATCH -sOutputFile=output.pdf input.pdf
* It would be nice to have Okular be able to reduce a pdf's file size, maybe
based on profiles like gs' compatibility has ei: screen , ebook , default,
printer etc etc.
* Not only that, but how about also being able to delete and or re-order pages?
