Bug ID: 479809
Summary: Use current page when click Next in a ongoing search
rather than previous search state
Classification: Applications
Product: okular
Version: 24.01.90
Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

okular search click next after changing current page
SUMMARY
When searching a text within a document, I use CTRL + F and then click next
until I find what I need.
But between 2 press of the Next button, if I change the page to skip known
unrelated text I don't want, pressing Next again will go back to the previous
state and won't continue searching from the new current page.
See video in attachment.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a PDF
2. Search a common word like "the"
3. Click several time "Next". This will find occurrence in, for example, page A
4. Scroll to skip multiple pages to page B
5. Click "Next" again
OBSERVED RESULT
After clicking "Next", the search continue finding matches from page A instead
of from page B
EXPECTED RESULT
I expect the search to continue finding occurrence from page B instead of page
A.
At least SumatraPDF and Firefox integrated PDF.js viewer implement search that
way.
Maybe there is a way to workaround that ?
Currently I do Escape to cancel the search and then Ctrl + F and write the text
to search again to start from the current page.
