A problem might be that the PPD does not use the standardized keyword "Duplex"
for duplex printing, but some vendor-specific one.

If you could provide the PPD file, this would help to narrow down the problem.

Note in addition, that the "Advanced" options tab has been reintroduced for the
current development version of Qt 5 [1], in which case you should be able to
select the respective duplex option there if a vendor-specific keyword is being
used.
