do you have an example document that you can share?

The discussion you linked to is in German.  I'm afraid not everybody here will
be able to read that...

As you say that the problem affects evince too I suspect that it is actually a
poppler problem.  So please expect someone more knowledgeable than me to ask
you to file a bug report in the poppler bugtracker.
