Not sure if this helps, but Gwenview has the exact same issue, and apparently
there's a 5 line patch that fixes is, here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373178#c1
Since it the same issue and (from the outside) the Gwenview and Okular seem
similar, maybe the same fix may be applied ?
