            Bug ID: 338580
Summary: Add option to send selected text directly to external
                    program from context menu
           Product: okular
           Version: 0.19.2
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: PDF backend
          Assignee: okular-devel at kde.org
          Reporter: robin.marlow at gmail.com

Hi,
I use okular for reading academic pdfs & often want to follow the references.
Unfortunately these mainly don't have html links just the journal reference
e.g. ("De Wals P, Gilquin C, de Maeyer S, Bouckaent A, Noel A, Lechal MF et al
Longitudinal study of asymptomatic meningococcal carriage in two Belgian
populations of school children. J Infect 1983;6:147-56.")

Currently I select this text, copy to clipboard then go to browser and paste
into pubmed & up it pops. Would it be possible to add an option to "search
with x" that send the highlighted text to a specific search engine in the
browser.

I can see from other bugs you are hesitant about increasing the complexity of
the UI, but for academic researchers it would be fantastic & if configurable
could be used to look up with a dictionary website instead.

Sniffing around acroread it has a non-configurable context menu option "look
up" that sends the text to dictionary.com, which is sort of what I want - but
to pubmed instead (and not horrendous bloated acroread)!

Thanks!

Robin
