I'm affected by the symptoms described by ptomblin, too.
I do not have the mentioned directory on my system at all but I still do have
the problem:

okular linux_ct2-4400_ct2-4500ci_ct2-4650ci.pdf 
Xlib:  extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
Xlib:  extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
Xlib:  extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
Can't get XRandR version 
okular: Fatal IO error: client killed
