I found out what was the problem. For some strange reason Okular was using
mupdf instead of poppler. Removing the mupdf package (don't remember which
package carried it as a dependency, as it seemed totally unneeded) everything
is working properly. Still cannot understand why Okular was relying on mupdf
and not on poppler beeing both installed.
You may close this issue, sorry for the useless report.
