I should add that I'm using the following program versions to generate the PDF
and sync files:

$ lualatex --version
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.70.1-2012081406

$ pdflatex --version
pdfTeX 3.1415926-2.4-1.40.13 (TeX Live 2012)
