if viewing pdf [1] on page 4 it says '\mu^+ on Cu' (using LaTeX-Syntax for
special symbols) what is expected behavior while in [2] at the same place it
says '\propto^+ on Cu'. If text is marked with right click, search options pop
up indicating correct search for '\mu+'.
Only difference between pdfs i can see is that [1] uses pdf v 1.5 and [2] uses
pdf v. 1.4.
correct decryption in search option indicates, that this is an decryption error
of pdf v 1.4.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open pdf
2. find wrong symbol (directions above)
3. mark with right-click to see searching popup
Actual Results:  
\propto istead of \mu

Expected Results:  
\mu instead of \propto
