May I ask whether this would actually be hard to implement? That is, is the
reason it fails to work in presentation mode due to some sort of glitch or
oversight or would enabling it actually be a new feature?

I ask because I can see why you might not think it worth enabling it if it
would be a genuinely new feature. (I wish you would but I admit there's a
certain dearth of wild clamouring for it.)

If, on the other hand, it is more-or-less chance that it doesn't work at
present and it would be easy to fix, it would be simply superb to be able to
use okular in front of my students. (I guess right now they probably assume I
use windows because acroread is pretty much all they see.)
