Thank you for reporting this bug, but we in Okular are not responsible for the
rendering speed of pdf files, as you have correctly identified the poppler
library is the one doing the rendering so there is not much we can do in Okular
to speed it up.

Please report a but in the poppler bug tracker at https://bugs.freedesktop.org
