I have a similar stream of messages from okular ("Failed parsing page xx using
hint tables") for a pdf file (generated by a commercial on-line publishing
service) which renders fine with acroread and xpdf. If I do not run from
terminal I see no messages at all, but rendering is all wrong (missing pages,
pages out of order etc). My version of okular (ass supplied by my distro is
0.11.2 so I guess might have been fixed if I  understand correctly the comments
above. I am not attaching the offending pdf unless somebody asks to see it (I
suspect of little interest).
